Are you ready to fall in love with a charming home in an elegant neighborhood? We’d love to see you...
As a home in Buffalo hits the market, Sellers look back fondly on a place they loved
Sometimes a home is a place you live for awhile, other times, it becomes part of your life.
Timothy Myers and Cynthia Ward-Myers have cherished their house at 155 Parkview Ave. in South Buffalo for the past 30 years. Built in 1910, Cynthia still remembers moving in and feeling the raw potential of the place. An architecture major in college before she became a pharmacist, she set to work restoring architectural details such as the six-inch wood trim and lead glass windows.
These and many other aesthetic updates were joined by infrastructure upgrades, including replacing the electrical and plumbing, putting a new roof on the house 10 years ago and installing a new furnace and air conditioner five years ago.
In turn, the house became a sanctuary as they raised twin daughters and grew to love the walkable and safe South Buffalo neighborhood where they lived. They treasured living near a true Buffalo jewel in Cazenovia Park and witnessing the resurgence of Seneca Street, with residential and commercial developments that brought vibrant foot traffic, cool restaurants and popular places for coffee and ice cream (or coffee ice cream – looking at you Cookies & Cream).
Now it’s time for a new chapter. The decision to sell 155 Parkview, which they made recently for family and health reasons, is a bittersweet moment for the couple. They never stopped loving the home or their community. But they also take heart knowing that someone new will get to know and grow to love those same things in South Buffalo.
Priced at $180,000 the two-story home has 1,540 square feet, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It features a homey, communal vibe with its open kitchen and dining, but also separate areas for moments that require quiet or privacy. It also sits in one of the most walkable areas in the entire city. Residents can walk to the grocery store and the bank. They can watch baseball games at Caz Park. They can stroll over to Seneca Street and all the amenities there.
Quality housing inventory in South Buffalo has become a challenge in recent years, and it is truly rare to find an affordable home that’s received top-notch care from their previous owners. The entire zip code only features seven available MLS listings. One of the reasons for this is that this section of South Buffalo has a fleeting set of attributes in Western New York, in that it’s still blue collar and affordable but also safe and walkable. Very few homeowners choose to leave once they’ve settled there.
Cynthia and Tim are among the people who know that the neighborhood is a special place. They’re grateful for the life it’s given them and the memories that will last forever. They can’t wait to watch new homeowners begin this journey anew.
Located blocks to Buffalo jewel, Cazenovia Park enjoy walking, biking, basketball, tennis, swimming, baseball, and a ton more just a stones throw away.
This is a home you're sure to enjoy.
